Questions
Walkies is a platform connecting dog owners with professional walkers and pet sitters. Owners can book dog walks, home visits, and take-home sitting services. Walkers and sitters can register, manage their availability, and accept service requests.
Anyone can sign up. Owners book pet care services for their dogs. Walkers and sitters apply to offer walking or sitting services and are given an experience badge based on a qualification quiz they complete during registration.
Planned Walk (scheduled at least 3 hours ahead), Express Walk (same-day, short notice with a small surcharge), Home Visit Sitting (sitter comes to the dog's home), and Take-Home Sitting (sitter takes the dog to their home). Insurance can be added to any service for an additional 5 ₾.
Tap Sign Up and choose your role — Owner or Walker/Sitter. Owners complete a short registration form. Walkers complete a 5-step registration including personal info, photo, address, service rates, and phone OTP verification. Walkers also take a 9-question qualification quiz before they can start accepting requests.
Open the Profile tab from the bottom navigation. Tap Edit to update your name, phone, address, city, bio, photo, or service rates. Phone changes require a one-time verification code.
You can reach us at support@walkies.me. We respond as soon as possible during business hours.
Go to the Book Walk section, choose a service type (Planned Walk, Express Walk, Home Visit, or Take Home), select date and time, choose your dog(s), and optionally add insurance. You can choose a specific walker you trust or let the system assign one automatically.
Yes. When booking, you can browse verified walkers and tap on a profile to request that specific person. Alternatively, choose "Any available walker" and the system will assign the best available match.
You will receive a push notification when a walker accepts your request and the status changes to Accepted. You can also check the status in My Walks at any time.
Once the walker taps Start Walk and the service status changes to Started, you can view the live GPS route on the map in your My Walks screen. Tracking is only active during the walk.
Check the current service status in My Walks — if the walker has accepted and is on their way, their status will show as Accepted or Arrived. If you have concerns, contact support at support@walkies.me.
Open My Walks, find the booking, and tap Cancel. Cancellation is allowed while the status is Requested, Accepted, or Assigned. If you cancel within 5 minutes of booking confirmation, there is no charge. After that, a 5 ₾ cancellation fee applies.
When the walker taps Finish, the service status changes to Finished. You may then be prompted to leave a rating and review for the walker.
See the Service Statuses section of this FAQ for a full explanation of each status.
Walkers can share photo updates during a walk via the service tracker screen. You will see these in your walk details.
Tap Sign Up and choose Walker/Sitter. Complete 5 registration steps: basic info, personal details and photo, address, service rates, and phone verification. After registration you will take a 9-question qualification quiz that determines your starting badge level.
The qualification quiz is a 9-question assessment covering dog handling experience, safety scenarios, weather awareness, professionalism, and dog behavior. Your answers are scored and used to assign your starting experience badge. There are no "wrong" answers that disqualify you — the quiz just calibrates your starting level.
Your quiz answers are scored on a scale. The total score determines your starting badge: Novice Walker (score below 13), Steady Strider (13–18), Trusted Handler (19–23), or Pack Leader (24 or above, out of a maximum of 27).
Complete 5 qualifying walks — each rated 4.0 stars or higher by owners — to advance one badge level. The counter resets each time you advance. Keep providing excellent service and your level will grow over time.
New requests appear in your Dashboard and the Available tab. Tap Accept to take the job or Decline to pass. Declining is available before you have accepted; once accepted, use the cancellation flow if you need to cancel.
When you arrive at the pickup location, tap Arrived to notify the owner. Once you have the dog and are ready to go, tap Start Walk. The GPS tracker will activate and the owner can follow the route in real time.
The full status flow is: Accept the request → tap Arrived when at the pickup address → tap Start Walk when you begin → tap Finish when the service is complete. For early endings, use the Request Early End option which requires owner approval.
If you need to end a walk earlier than scheduled, tap Request Early End and provide a reason. The owner will receive a notification to approve or reject. If approved, the price is adjusted proportionally to the actual time. If the early end is your fault, a penalty may apply.
You can cancel an accepted service while the status is Accepted or Assigned. If you cancel within 5 minutes of accepting, there is no penalty. After that, your profile rating is decreased by 0.5 stars. Cancellations during an active walk are not allowed — use the early end flow instead.
During an active walk (status: Started), open the walk tracker screen and use the camera button to upload a photo update. The owner will see the photo in their walk details.
Yes. Walkers must complete identity verification through our third-party partner (Didit). Until verified, your profile is not visible to owners and you cannot receive booking requests. You can start verification from the Profile tab.
Badges are experience indicators shown on every walker's profile. They help owners choose a walker that matches their confidence level. There are 4 badge levels, from entry-level to most experienced.
The four levels are: 🐾 Novice Walker — New to professional dog walking. Eager and enthusiastic. 🦮 Steady Strider — Developing solid dog handling skills and reliability. ⭐ Trusted Handler — Experienced and consistently well-reviewed. 👑 Pack Leader — Top-tier walker with exceptional experience and ratings.
Every new walker takes a 9-question qualification quiz during registration. The quiz tests experience, safety awareness, and professionalism. The total score (out of 27) determines the starting badge: below 13 → Novice Walker, 13–18 → Steady Strider, 19–23 → Trusted Handler, 24 and above → Pack Leader.
Yes. After earning 5 qualifying walks rated 4.0 stars or higher, a walker automatically advances to the next badge level. This encourages consistent quality and allows walkers to grow from Novice Walker all the way up to Pack Leader.
Badge level gives you a quick indication of a walker's experience and track record. Higher-badge walkers have completed the quiz with higher scores and/or have a history of highly-rated completed walks.
The owner has submitted a booking and it is waiting to be assigned to or accepted by a walker. No walker has confirmed the job yet.
The system has pre-assigned the job to a specific walker (typically in automatic assignment mode). The walker can still decline before confirming acceptance.
The walker has confirmed they will take the job. The service is scheduled and both parties are committed.
The walker has tapped Arrived, indicating they are at the pickup location. The walk has not started yet.
The walker has tapped Start Walk and the service is actively in progress. GPS tracking is live.
The walker has tapped Finish and the service is complete. Owners can now rate and review the walker.
The booking was cancelled — by the owner, the walker, or an admin. Cancellations are only possible while the status is Requested, Assigned, or Accepted. Cancellations during an active walk are not allowed.
The walker chose not to accept the job (available only in direct-booking or pre-assignment mode, before the walker has confirmed acceptance). A declined request may be reassigned to another walker.
A Planned Walk must be scheduled at least 3 hours in advance and is priced at the walker's standard rate. An Express Walk is for same-day bookings with short notice and carries a 1.3× surcharge on the base price to compensate walkers for quick availability.
With Home Visit, the sitter comes to your home to care for your dog. With Take Home, the sitter takes your dog to their own home. Both options are available when booking a sitting service.
Yes. If you directly request a specific walker, that walker can decline before accepting. In automatic assignment mode, a walker assigned by the system can also decline before confirming. If declined, you will be notified and can book again.
If a request is not accepted, you can try requesting a different walker or submitting a new request. Contact support at support@walkies.me if you need help finding availability.
Yes. You can add multiple dogs to a single service request. Multi-dog bookings carry a price surcharge: 2 dogs = 1.3×, 3 dogs = 1.4× the base rate.
Optional insurance can be added to any service for an additional 5 ₾. It provides an extra layer of protection during the service. Whether to add it is your choice.
For walks, the price is based on the walker's hourly or half-hourly rate multiplied by the booked duration. Express walks include a 1.3× surcharge. Multiple dogs add a surcharge (1.3× for 2 dogs, 1.4× for 3 dogs). Optional insurance adds 5 ₾. A sit is priced by the day: the sitter's day price for every started 24 hours, so anything up to 24 hours is one day and 26 hours is two. An open-ended sit charges one day up front and settles the rest when it ends.
If you cancel within 5 minutes of booking confirmation, there is no charge. If you cancel after the 5-minute free window, a 5 ₾ cancellation fee applies.
If a walk is finished early with owner approval, the price is adjusted proportionally based on the actual duration. Minimum billing rules may apply for owner-requested early finishes (minimum 30 minutes). If the early end is the walker's fault, a penalty may apply.
In-app payment processing is currently in development. Payment security details will be published when the payment system launches.
Yes. You can cancel a booking as long as the status is Requested, Assigned, or Accepted — cancellation is not possible once the walker has Arrived or the service has Started.
Yes. You can cancel within 5 minutes of booking confirmation at no cost. After this window, a 5 ₾ cancellation fee applies for owners, and a rating penalty applies for walkers.
Cancelling after the 5-minute free window results in a 5 ₾ cancellation fee to compensate the walker for their time.
Yes, but try to avoid it when possible. You can cancel while the status is Accepted or Assigned. Cancelling within 5 minutes of accepting is penalty-free. Cancelling later results in a −0.5 star decrease to your profile rating.
If a walk needs to finish before the scheduled time, the walker can request an Early End with a written reason. The owner receives a notification and must approve. Once approved, the price is adjusted proportionally. If the early end is classified as the walker's fault, a penalty may apply.
Once a service has reached Arrived or Started status, cancellation is not available. If there is a genuine emergency, please contact support at support@walkies.me.
No. Finished services cannot be reopened or reversed.
Once the walker taps Start Walk, the Walkies app begins recording and transmitting the walker's GPS location. As an owner, you can see the live route on a map in your My Walks screen for the duration of the active service.
Tracking activates when the walk status changes to Started and stops automatically when the walk is Finished. Location is only shared during the active service.
No. The app only requests location access during an active walk (status: Started). Walker location is not tracked at other times.
GPS accuracy can vary depending on the device, surroundings (tall buildings, tunnels), and weather. The app filters out low-accuracy GPS readings to improve route quality. If GPS is persistently inaccurate, ensure location services are enabled and try moving to an open area.
The app will continue recording location data locally and sync it when the connection is restored. Try to maintain a stable connection during active services for the best owner experience.
All walkers must complete identity verification through our third-party verification partner before they can be seen by owners or accept bookings. Unverified walkers are not shown in owner searches. A verification badge is displayed on verified walker profiles.
Walker badges indicate experience level based on their qualification quiz score and service history. See the Walker Levels & Badges section for full details on each badge level.
